In-House Schooling Shows
In-house horse shows are non-rated shows open to PAEC Riding School students of all levels. This series is designed to introduce competition, focusing on sportsmanship while providing riders with an opportunity to demonstrate what they are working on in their lessons in a semi-formal environment. Ribbons are awarded from 1st to 8th place, with year-end awards including Most Improved Rider, a Sportsmanship Award, and division High Point Champion and Reserve Champion.
Equestrian Skill Development Schooling Shows
The Equestrian Skills Development (ESD) Schooling Show Team at Pause Awhile Equestrian Centre is designed for riders who are new to the show environment or looking to build confidence and experience in a supportive, low-pressure setting. This team participates in Pickering Horse Show ESD schooling shows, offering riders the opportunity to develop ring confidence while continuing to strengthen foundational riding skills.
Coached by Kelly, who has been a rider and coach at Pause Awhile for over 20 years, the program emphasizes proper fundamentals, confidence-building, and positive show experiences. Kelly’s long-standing connection to Pause Awhile and deep understanding of rider development create a supportive and encouraging learning environment for riders of all ages.
In addition to off-site ESD schooling shows, team members participate in in-house schooling shows, clinics, and Rider Level programs, supporting well-rounded skill development both in and out of the show ring. This team is ideal for riders looking to gain experience, set achievable goals, and build confidence as they progress on their riding journey.
Silver Showing with Pause Awhile
The Silver / Trillium Team at Pause Awhile Equestrian Centre is a Central East Trillium and Silver show team competing at Caledon Equestrian Park. This program is designed for riders who are ready to commit to their development in a structured, show-focused environment.
Riders on the team participate in one to two lessons per week, with a strong emphasis on flatwork, correct fundamentals, and effective riding skills that translate into confident, versatile performance in the show ring. Coached by Michelle Johnson, a Competition Coach Specialist, who brings decades of experience in the hunter/jumper world. Michelle’s program supports both young and adult riders in building confidence, consistency, and thoughtful horsemanship. Team members also participate in off-site and in-house clinics, as well as schooling days, to further support rider development and show preparation within a supportive, team-oriented environment.
